Erectile dysfunction medicines took in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have been seized by Department of Health officials during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A guy was spoken with by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines through the internet.

The 47 was also questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is essential that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.

"These types of items being sold, typically online, have actually undergone no quality assurance and there can be no assurance about their security.

"You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not know the effect drugs like this may have on your health."
